Forum Security, new members and changes

When this forum first started, we wanted it to be visible to anyone who knew where it was. No outside links were made and, although we cant guarantee that people who know where it is won't post one somewhere at some point, for the immediate future, only people who know where it is can see it. At the moment, we still want more members of Brocken Hurst to be able to come and have a look to see how well its progressing

As more and more people at Brocken Hurst have found it and a good few of them have actually registered, we decided it was time to start adding a few controls to stop any potential abuse by outsiders. New members now have to be vetted and their accounts activated and posting permissions granted. The non sensitive forums are still visible to visitors but the main discussion forum can now only be accessed by approved registered members. At some point, we will probably make the whole site visible to members only.

Unfortunately, these processes can take a while to complete. First we have to be aware of a new registration, then we have to access the control panel to authorise (or not) the applicant. Depending on what's happening at the time and the numbers of new applicants, it could take a couple of days.

Please be patient. Remember its in all our interests to safeguard all our privacy and security. If you have any problems posting or accessing the Discussion forum, please let us know.
